Nice and gneiss are homophones, i.e., they sound the same but have different meanings and are spelt differently. The former defines someone who is very agreeable or something which is pleasant.
Gneiss, on the other hand, is a coarse, metamorphic rock, which consists of quartz, feldspar and mica. Gneiss is used as an ornamental stone in buildings or as gravestones.
